You Choose…

You open your eyes and another day begins…

you sit up and look around

you wonder…

What will today bring???

The truth…??

You really don’t know…

GOD says we have a choice.

We can choose the path of

We can choose the path of

Good or Bad.

Who will you choose to follow today?

The one who lies to you so you will do what he wants you to do?

The ONE who gives you a choice because HE loves you?

You Found My Heart

Like the river endlessly flows

my feeling for you continuously grows.

The water runs along at its own pace

as my heart begins to fill a space.

The quiet and peaceful rushing of the water

like nothing else matters now or ever.

As we grow closer we will continue

along a path towards something true.

Something wonderful felt so deep inside

so much like the water and nature outside.

The calm inside me that I feel with you

reminds me of the water and the sky so blue.

The smile you put in my heart and on my face

is something no one else could ever replace.

It warms me inside all throughout

like the sun reflects on the water all about.

The beautiful light as it shines into the water below

you found my light and encouraged me to let it show.

Thank you for all you have shown me yesterday and today

just gaze out over the water and you’ll understand what I say.

As the water rushes out to find its way to the sea

you have found my heart and that is where you will always be.

To Write or Not to Write…

Sometimes it is so hard to write. When you feel like you have to, the words are nonexistent. You think and sit and try to come up with something… but

NOTHING!!!      quotes-about-writing-writers-block-heart

Where are the words? Where are all of the meaningful things that need to be said? Where are the thoughts and advice to be shared?  Still…

Inspiration cannot be forced. It is something that comes when least expected. And when it comes, you have to be ready to listen… and write.

Now there are times when you can write, even though there really are no words. As a writer, one must continue to write even in the moments of no inspiration. Often the writing will get the juices flowing, so to speak!

Other times it is important to write about moments in life that are difficult… but it is time to share. This sharing will benefit the writer and the reader. It will act as a cleaning out and a filling up all at once…

In the end, write whatever comes to mind. You can always go back and change it later. Ultimately, though, if it comes to your mind, it is something that needs to be written and read. Allow hearts to be touched, whatever words are written…

It’s All in the Family

How many times have you thought about someone and thought, man if they weren’t family, I would never speak to them again?

Yes, we get that mad sometimes.

Well, not us, no never… all the people not reading this. Ha! I bet you have been on the receiving end of that thought. Families can be tough.

But we are family, so we do love and stick together regardless of what happens.

Or at least we should. This is the picture of the Greek word for love, storge. Storge is the kind of love we feel towards our parents, our children, our siblings and anyone else who is a family member. In the Greek, storge is defined as parental affection or instinctual affection by humans and animals for their young. ( It is the kind of love that comes naturally, paternally even.

This love is not found in the New Testament. Instead there are two negative uses and a compound use of the word. In both Romans 1:31 and 2 Timothy 3:3, the word astorgos is used, meaning no love or without love. ( In Romans 12:10 it is used in combination with phileo as philostorgos. In this instance the translation is to be devoted and to cherish one’s kindred.

This is a picture of what God’s family should look like, where we are all considered brothers and sisters through Jesus and thus we should love each other as such.

In this love level, there is a focus on time.

As we go through life with our families, we should be spending time with them. God has chosen each person in our families to be who they are, the sibling, the parent, the aunt or uncle, the grandparent. Each of these roles is integral in the functioning of the family.

This could be compared to the picture of the body of Christ. Each of us in the body have a specific anointing which if we do not accept it, then part of the body will not function properly.

The same is true of the family. Each person has their role and are important to the family unit. When there are hurt feelings or discord within the family, there are often trials and even unforgiveness. You all know what I am talking about, I am sure. Maybe some of you have even experienced it where one or more members disagree about something and stop talking while holding onto bitterness because they cannot forgive the other person.

That is not a picture of love on any level.

We should always be forgiving of anyone for any wrong. As we understand the difference between acceptance and forgiveness, we can forgive without making the person think what they did was right. Moreover, as we understand God’s love, and His forgiveness of our sins, all of them, we come to understand what that looks like for us as we are a reflection of Him.

At the end of the day, a loving family should find everything forgivable.”                        Mark V. Olsen

Another picture of love is now on the horizon.

As I think about family and what that means to me, I think not only of my blood family, but also of my spiritual family. So often, family is those who are related to us in some way. But, guess what? Our spiritual family is related to us through blood too… through the blood of Jesus!!! And even though the Bible does not refer to family much, as the earthly family, the family of God is spoken of many times. One of the sections that I think most personifies the family of God is the following verse from Ephesians:

So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints, and are of God’s household, 20 having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus Himself being the corner stone, 21 in whom the whole building, being fitted together, is growing into a holy temple in the Lord, 22 in whom you also are being built together into a dwelling of God in the Spirit.   (Ephesians 2:19-22)

Love is family.

Family is love.

Whatever your family looks like, make sure you appreciate them, spend time with them, and above all… love them!!!

I CAN Forgive

How can I FORGIVE?

You took all I had to give…

I feel so very empty

Hurt is all that is inside of me

Anger is now consuming

Swirling around and growing…

How can I possibly let go?

So confused… I don’t even know…

But then in the darkness

Comes the ONE who loves me

JESUS takes away the hurt, the anger

HE replaces it with something better

Love, His love,

The love that loves anyway

Forever and Always

Even when it hurts

Even in anger

Love eases, comforts, heals

Love strengthens, reveals

In that love we see how He loves us and once again we live

Once more, surrounded by the love of the Father

I can forgive…

Are You Truly Free???

What does FREEDOM mean to you? It can mean a variety of things depending on who you are talking to and even the setting.  As a believer and follower of Jesus Christ, being free means no longer held by the chains of sin. In becoming a follower of Jesus, we confess our sins to the Father and ask for forgiveness.

David, of course, having completed the work God set out for him, has been in the grave, dust and ashes, a long time now. But the One God raised up—no dust and ashes for him! I want you to know, my very dear friends, that it is on account of this resurrected Jesus that the forgiveness of your sins can be promised. He accomplishes, in those who believe, everything that the Law of Moses could never make good on. But everyone who believes in this raised-up Jesus is declared good and right and whole before God.  Acts 13:36-39 (MSG)

Once we do that we are made free in Him.

It’s in Christ that you, once you heard the truth and believed it (this Message of your salvation), found yourselves home free—signed, sealed, and delivered by the Holy Spirit.  Ephesians 1:13 (MSG)

And even, free of everything!  The chains are gone… BROKEN!!!!

In forgiveness we are made free…

As we choose to follow God and accept our true identity, He gives us the opportunity for complete FREEDOM. In our true identity, we are a son or a daughter of God the Father; we are royalty, princes and princesses; we are heirs to the throne of Heaven alongside Jesus.

You got all of that right? Son or daughter, prince or princess AND heir to the throne of HEAVEN!!

God the Father is our Father and we are His children… we are His… and He loves us. He loves us SO MUCH. And because of that love for us, the Lord wants us to be free…

FREE from everything except His love!!!

God gave us the opportunity to be FREE from sin and ultimately death through HIS son Jesus Christ. You no longer have to carry stuff around, the weights of all the worldy stuff. Jesus takes all of it for us and deals with it. God gave us Him along with the Holy Spirit as helpers, so to speak. They are there for us in our times of need AND our times of joy.

In this new identity and freedom we find forgiveness AND UNCONDITIONAL LOVE!!! In addition, we are now given the ability to live life, in abundance, as God initially intended for us since the beginning of time.

Now, you have a choice…

GOD, abundant life, FREEDOM, LOVE

SIN, death, fear

Doesn’t seem so hard to choose when it is put like that huh?

Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses. Now I call on heaven and earth to witness the choice you make. Oh, that you would choose life, so that you and your descendants might live!  Deuteronomy 30:19 (NLT)

Choose Jesus and find FREEDOM… and a life like never before!

Lean on ME…

Nothing can drag you down completely

Your strength is inside… don’t you see?

It may feel like it will never end

Things come at you from every direction.

But your strength will get you through

And don’t forget… I’ll be there too.

Lean on ME for support and anything else you may need

You will make it through the storm to find the sun indeed.

The clouds and darkness will be lifted away

You will feel light and free on another day.

That day will come soon, you will see

Just take MY hand and hold onto ME.

I will be with you by your side

Until you can let go like the ocean’s tide.

So trust in ME and and peace will surely come,

It is time for the abundant life I promise everyone.

Saying Sorry…

I don’t even know how to begin this except by jumping in. Saying sorry is probably one of the hardest things that we have to do and probably one of the things we will do most often in our life. AGREE??

Now think about forgiving the person once they say I am sorry. How do you respond? Do you easily say,

Sure, of course I forgive you!

Or is this more likely your response…

Are you kidding.. do you know how bad you hurt me? How could I possibly forgive you?

I bet it would be a close battle on which answer we chose as our response. Of course, I am sure it would also depend on the situation and the level of hurt it produced. You know what though? We should forgive, no matter what. Why? Because we are told to by Jesus Himself…

“And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses.”  Mark 11:25

Even though we are hurt, we should still forgive someone, especially when they ask for forgiveness. It is clear that the Father will not forgive us for our transgressions against others and Him if we don’t forgive others. And me for one, I don’t want to chance the Father not forgiving me. I want His forgiveness and His love all over me!

Make love not war is something I am sure all of us have heard at some point in our lives. And, honestly, it is something that I think all of us should strive to live for. Wouldn’t the world be a better place of we all loved instead of fighting? Not only that, isn’t loving so much easier than fighting?

Sometimes our inability to forgive others comes from the fact that we cannot forgive ourselves. Again, the same fact stands true that before God can forgive us, we must forgive others. That includes ourselves…

The best way to be free, be free in the Spirit, is to let go of all things that weigh you down. The things of unforgiveness are really heavy and hard to carry. If we let Jesus take them from us, we no longer have to be burdened. We will be free, truly free!!!!

So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus. And because you belong to him, the power of the life-giving Spirit has freed you from the power of sin that leads to death.  Romans 8:1-2 (NLT)

Say you are sorry now, for anything that is before you. In that moment, think of those who you need to forgive and relay that too. Be sorry and forgive… once you do that, FREEDOM will ensue and you will be filled with the Holy Spirit. To me, that one of the most amazing things ever!

Weekly Random & Not So Random

I have decided to write a weekly post which I will post every Friday…

Weekly Random & Not So Random

It has come to my attention, that we are consumed with thoughts throughout the day. Actually, that is not a new revelation, it has been obvious to me for quite some time now. But it is important for me to now point out that thoughts are… well… everywhere!!!

You could almost say we are BOMBARDED with them!!! Thoughts swirl around constantly… Inside, outside, and all around us in a constant and never-ending force that almost controls us! How do we work through all of that? How can we come to a place where we clear our mind out of all of these flurries of thoughts? I find that writing helps me sort through all of this. In my writing I am able to pull out the ones I need and trash everything else.

Each week in this post I will either share something profound and meaningful or dump some of my trash. Which might be a good thing for someone, because remember…

Another mans trash is someone’s TREASURE!!!

So depending on your likes and dislikes, my weekly posts will be treasure or trash to you. All I know is it will be an awesome way for me to unload some of these thoughts… Random and not so random, swirling around!!! Hope you enjoy!!!

You can’t reach for anything new if you are still holding onto yesterday’s junk. -Louise Smith
