The KEY that fits

Challenge comes in life, but the key to making it comes in one form… GOD is the only key, the Master key that fits all of the locks.

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.  John 14:6 (NASB)

For each of us though, our Master key, or “God key” only opens the doors He wants us to open. Now the question all of us are pondering but don’t want to be the first one to ask… why do some doors still open, even if they are the wrong door? God gives us free will, therefore we can still go our own way and open, or actually force open the wrong doors. I know, I remember many times in my life when I did just that, forced my way through a door that I wasn’t supposed to go through. If each of you think back over your life, I bet you will be able to highlight such times too.

God gives us discernment which helps guide us too. So, in those seasons where the wrong door was opened, the Lord showed up. He allows us to make our choice, but then He impresses on us how we broke the lock to get in. We have to remember to let God take us through the doors that He wants us to walk through. We must trust Him with EVERYTHING… anything we do for HIM will require HIM for us to do it well.

God always gives the best to those who leave the choice with HIM.  Jim Elliot

We are called to walk in grace, being led by the Spirit, on the path the Father has already laid out for us. On those paths, we come to know our Father and grow closer to Him, only because JESUS made the way. Through Jesus we can know God the Father and rest in HIM in the journey. Then, we gain access to the “God key” so we can open the doors we are meant to open in life.

God is a god of grace and love. As we have access to this amazing Father, we are covered in His grace and love, even if we choose wrong and open the wrong door. He is always there for His children, even when we turn from Him.

GOD Why?

So God,

Just curious

You give us all the emotions

You enable us to walk in them

You allow us to feel them

You give us love, You give us hate

You give us joy, You give us pain

You give us good, You give us evil

So God,

Just curious…

God, sometimes,

the pain is so much more than the joy,

the evil is so much more evil that the good is good

and God…

the hate cuts deeper than the love could ever reach…

GOD what is all for?

It is all like a leaf blowing in the wind…

A cloud floating across the sky

A wave crashing on the shore

It passes by and then the next moment comes

God, what will that next moment bring?

Fear, anxiety, God, You know,

You felt it all…

God you felt

And, God, you never did anything but Love us…

So, God, I come to you now

God I cry out to You

God I need You

Help me please

Please pick me up

Carry me through

God I cannot walk it alone anymore

And I don’t want to…

God journey

Don’t Miss It

The sound of the waves pushing each other to the shore

The sound of my heart beating against yours

The sun and the water come together as one

What we share has only begun

The water’s breeze across your face

The warmth and the love in our embrace

The soft sun-warmed sand

Our bodies walking hand in hand

The song of the seagull overhead

The words “I love you” whispered

Why Forgive?

Forgiveness and connection. I experienced, even as of late, that in order to have a stronger, deeper and more intimate connection with people, you MUST have forgiveness. Moreover, that forgiveness might even need to be paired with some grace.

We all do things in our lives that are not the greatest… none of us are perfect. The only one who can claim that is Jesus Christ!

It was the precious blood of Christ, the sinless, spotless Lamb of God. 1 Peter 1:19 (NLT)

As we do those not so great things and make bad choices, well, we all hurt others in those moments, while ultimately hurting ourselves in the process. We then proceed to build walls and sometimes break connections with people too, all in an effort to protect ourselves.

In order to truly love in an intimate relationship, you cannot have walls. You also must have a connection in which you are continually connecting more and more with each other, drawing closer and closer together. Why in our effort to protect ourselves, do we hurt ourselves more? We have all been hurt. Sometimes the answer is simply that we are afraid of being hurt again. There is fear… God wants to take that fear away and does in the perfection of His love.

God is love. When we take up permanent residence in a life of love, we live in God and God lives in us. This way, love has the run of the house, becomes at home and mature in us, so that we’re free of worry on Judgment Day—our standing in the world is identical with Christ’s. There is no room in love for fear. Well-formed love banishes fear. Since fear is crippling, a fearful life—fear of death, fear of judgment—is one not yet fully formed in love.   1 John 4:17-18 (MSG)

Stop for a minute and search your heart. Search your heart with the guidance of the Holy Spirit and look at your relationships. Is there fear? Is there unforgiveness? Are you connected intimately? Or, are there walls everywhere you turn? Even walls that are short are obstacles preventing the relationship from being all it can be. In a healthy, connected, intimate relationship there should be no walls and no fear… only LOVE.

Now is the time for you to trust God and His love. Forgive and move forward with each person in your life whether they are close to you or just an acquaintance. Why not take a chance on God’s promise and share the forgiveness and grace He shared. Break down all those walls that have been built up around you. If you do it with a pure heart and with the help of the Holy Spirit, you will see and feel a difference. the weight you have been carrying around will be lifted and your heart will be filled with joy. I have done it, even though I honestly didn’t believe it could make such a difference, Jesus knew I was carrying around that bag of stuff that I was supposed to give over to Him.

The coolest thing about all of this is that once I forgave others and myself I was able to begin knocking down the walls I had built. More importantly, God was able to begin changing me on the inside. Once I was cleaned out, He could really move in and take over! Now the Father is working inside me like never before. Are you ready? Why not let go of it all now… it is time for true FREEDOM!!!

Bible verses taken from:

As the Rain Falls

What a dark and dreary day

As I sit here with nothing to say

The clouds move overhead

Willing me to stay in bed

The raindrops fall on the roof just like a lullaby

The clock tick tocks as the minutes pass by

A chill has fallen in the air

I bundle up with a blanket in my chair

I light a fire to warm my body

And I snuggle with you as you sit beside me

As the day goes on and on

We wait for the sun

Though it never even peeks through,

Maybe it is in bed too…

The Gift of Time…

Time comes and time goes. It is something that doesn’t last and before you know it, all the time is gone. One day disappears in 24 hours, one hour in 60 minutes, 1 minute in 60 seconds… sometimes as quick as a blink of an eye. Think about it it. How many times have you wished that time could be turned back? A do-over?  Often in life we do get second chances. Maybe not a second chance to change a particular moment or decision in life, but a second chance to have happiness in that same way as in a second marriage. Unfortunately we don’t always know if that will happen.

Each moment that comes our way is important because we don’t get it back.  How can you make a difference in a day? Wake up to each new day refreshed and excited. Each day is new and a kind of do-over. Each day brings us the opportunity to be a better person. God says His mercies are new every morning… a second chance! I love how the message Bible relays this verse from Lamentations 3:22-23…

God’s loyal love couldn’t have run out,
his merciful love couldn’t have dried up.
They’re created new every morning.
    How great your faithfulness!
I’m sticking with God (I say it over and over).
    He’s all I’ve got left.

So, what will you do today? Will you make it the best day ever? Or will it be a day you look back on and wish you could change? Your choice… make a it one you will never forget, in a good way!

No More Fear

Sometimes I just can’t see

My confidence gone

Everything feels wrong

What do I do now?

I am full of doubt

I have built a wall

Letting no one in at all

Oh what an empty, lonely place

But it has been my space

All my many fears

Throughout the years

Come rushing back to me

I am no longer free

My heart is heavy

And my body is weary

That old feeling that was gone

Has come back on strong

I know I don’t like it

But it’s not easy to forget

Finding the way to the light

Is a tough, hard fight

But the tears need to go away

And so now I pray

Please hold me LORD,

Take my hands in Yours

Help guide me through

The right open door

So I might be sad, no more

My happiness will again return

My mind will continue to learn

My body will feel light and free

And my heart will love… completely!

The Path

 A kiss in the wind

A wave goodbye

Words of love

A smile, a grin

Look up in the sky

Remember it all

The happy flutters

The clouds rolling by

Sweet songs

Beautiful flowers

Dreary dark days

Full of showers

Turn left, turn right

Look up, look down

Each day, each moment

Never lose sight

Behind the clouds

The sun will always peek through

Sadness and doubt

Eventually come with

Peace and joy too…

Cat or Dog, that is the question

Cat. What does that word mean to you? Well if you don’t like cats, I know the drill, oh they are evil, they don’t like anyone, they have a mind of their own… and on and on…

Now let’s hang out in the other camp for a while, the camp that adores those sweet furry animals. Yes, you guessed it, I am one of the adorers. I have had cats my entire life. and not only that, I have two beautiful girls now. My beauties have definite personalities and “quirks”, but they are my babies and I love them!

The key to loving cats is understanding them. And, the key to understanding them is loving them. HA! Figure that one out my friends. I have been trying to for all of my life. But once you love a cat, a furry feline, you will always love them. I am sure many of you will disagree and that ok… that’s why there are also dogs in the world!

The thing about pets, specifically cats and dogs, is that these guys love unconditionally. How many of us can say we have unconditional love, except from God the Father. Our pets give us that love. I can’t even count on my hand anymore how many times one of my furry babies was there for me when I was crying or felt alone. They are amazing comforts. In fact even right now, as my husband is gone for another week, I am not alone, first because I know my God is with me. But also because both my beautiful baby girls, Jazzie and Mica,  are here too… and that is truly amazing!!!

“Until one has loved an animal, a part of one’s soul remains unawakened.” – Anatole France

What is forever…???

loveWe talk about things that last in life… A battery, a friendship, a marriage. How do we know if something is forever? Forever, well, it’s a choice. Everything in life is a choice and as God gives us free will we each choose for ourselves. Will you choose to stay married, even in the times that are challenging and difficult? Often the hardest choices produce the greatest joys in our lives.

As we push through and stay focused on the promises of God, that He will provide and He will take care of all of our needs, we are blessed beyond what we could have imagined. Life as we know it, the everyday hum drum becomes exciting, something we look forward to even… Imagine that!

How about as we start our next day, we choose to do something different. What if we all decided to smile at every person we came in contact with during the day? How would that change not only our life, but every life we touched during the day? Do you think it would be better for everyone including us? I’d say a resounding YES! So why not choose to live life in a way that spreads joy and love…? That includes sticking to the marriage that might be tough. Or the friendship that has struggles. Even the family member that you haven’t talked to in years… How can you bring love into that relationship? God has already shown you… Now it’s your turn to show others. Share the love HE has shared with you. There is more than enough to go around!!!
