Stop Trying… Trust

the fog

I sit here this morning, thoughts swirling around in my head, trying to grab just one and comprehend. But… that’s not possible. God doesn’t want us to comprehend, He wants us to trust.

The more I try to figure it all out, the further I move away from Him and into a state of confusion… definitely not a place I want to be. After all,  the Lord is not there, because He is not a God of confusion, and where confusion or chaos is present, it is not from God.

Now, it is important to also be aware that it will try to creep in. All the swirling thoughts might have to be sorted through, but that’s all, just sort and then put them aside. There is not a need to understand. The Father is where you receive understanding from.

Does that seem confusing? Yes, it might, in fact it almost seemed that way to me as I wrote it, but it really does make sense. Let me explain. We must process through the thoughts and determine which ones to keep and which ones to toss out. This process must be done with the Holy Spirit in order to prevent the confusion from seeping in. Holy Spirit will help us see clearly, even if we don’t understand.

The biggest nugget of wisdom I have gained recently is this… God is full of wisdom and love for me, and I only need to understand as He feels I am ready to understand, instead, I remain in His presence allowing Him to be in everything I do, say and think, and I will be fine.

This is HUGE for me, as I have always been a worrier and a planner. I made notes for my notes… every second of my day was planned out! Well almost… but, I was a nervous wreck, all the time! And now, I actually pack the night before a trip…!!! What? Yeah, for me that’s crazy, because in the past this would be done at least a week prior, maybe even sooner.

The Father is teaching me how to chill and not miss moments in life. In that, I am growing in my trust of Him and where He is taking me in this journey. My life can be full of worry and doubt and anxiety and fear, as my past 40 years have been, or it can be full of adventure and friendships and family and love and timeless moments where I can live life abundantly with my Lord.

So, as I sit here and the thoughts have now subsided from their swirling, a peace has settled instead and an excitement is growing inside… today is a new day that has just begun. I ask my Father, as an excited child would… Daddy, what will we do and where are we going today? Because, I am ready to go with you!!!

Always, everywhere, GOD is present, and always HE seeks to discover Himself to each one. ~A.W. Tozer

The Doors of Our Life

wooden-door-1044098_960_720

Doors are funny things, at least to me. They swing back and forth, they slide to and fro, they creak, they groan, they swish, they slam, they let people in and usher people out, ultimately their sole purpose is to open and close.

Why is a door important?

A door is like a portal leading from one place to another place. A door is the transition from outside to inside, from hot to cool, from cold to warm, from wet to dry, from exposed to covered. Unfortunately, it can also be a place of fear, sadness, hunger and pain for many…

Some of the doors are chosen for us, especially as we are children. While someone else is caring for us, we have no say in what is behind the doors for us, we just follow the ones who are supposed to be protecting and loving us.

As we become adults, the choice becomes ours alone. We determine which doors to walk through and how the other side will look. Yes, there are times when as a result of a bad choice, our situation looks bleak and hopeless.

Herein is where our God steps in… if we let Him.

Yes, I said let Him…

God is ever present with us, but we still have free will. Because of this,  it is also necessary for us to cry out to Him, when we are in need. He feels our pain with us and even catches our tears when we cry. He is there, but He waiting… waiting for us to invite Him in.

Scripture is full of verses about doors. I have only listed references  in order to provide a sampling of what is in God’s Word. The meanings are as diverse as the number are bountiful.

There is the open door (Matthew 7:7) and the closed door (Matthew 6:6). There is a door that is likened to the mouth, eyes and possibly even the ears (Psalm 141:3). These doors are also places for opportunity and encounter with Jesus (Revelation 3:20), or sin and turning the way of the enemy (Genesis 4:7).

Doors are ever abundant and available, as doors often represent opportunities. Opportunities lead to decisions… decisions lead to blessings or cursings. (Deuteronomy 30:19)

My life has been full of many doors, as I am sure yours has as well. Some of the doors that were not meant for me, well, they led to very difficult times in my life. Some of the darkest, most hopeless times were on the other side of these doors. Were these doors part of my destiny, or did I mess up my life by walking through them?

Here are my thoughts on that…

One of my most favorite verses, and one that many of us are very familiar with is Romans 8:28…

And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.

Essentially, anything we do, God will use it for our good… even through the darkness and the pain. The coolest part though is in looking at the verses around this particular verse.

In the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words; 27 and He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.

28 And we know that [b]God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. 29 For those whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many brethren; 30 and these whom He predestined, He also called; and these whom He called, He also justified; and these whom He justified, He also glorified.

After reading this I am filled with such peace! Yes, we are weak and we NEED Holy Spirit even in our talking to God. But, HE knows that and knew it… and even still, we were already tagged to be HIS, and so He works it out. In fact, He glorifies us! WOW! Even in our bad choices, we will be glorified because we are sons and daughters of the KING!!!

Walking out the extent of opening a “bad” door will probably result in the need for repentance and possibly some pain and hardship for a season. But, there is hope and with God, there is also still a blessing. I have seen it many times in my life where out of a bad situation in my life came something beautiful! For me, it also became such a season of growth and ultimately drawing even closer to the Lord.

Another key to opening the “right” doors, the doors that lead to our destinies, is make sure they are easy to open. The ones that you force open are not for you. I have done that as well and ended up staying in a place where I was very unhappy and even watched an opportunity pass me by.

God is love and in hindsight of this truth, we will always find open doors to our destiny. This love is so HUGE that it will almost reach out and grab you. Once again, it is still up to you. Your choice will lead you to the love or away from it.

Jesus is waiting for you to ask Him which way to go. Just trust in His love for you and then let Him walk you through the next door of your life!

I know not the way the LORD leads me, but, well do I know my GUIDE. Martin Luther

My House

perfect position

Every single person is here on this earth for a reason. Yes, every single person. We all have a purpose. Our purpose is one that glorifies the Kingdom of God. Even if someone is not yet part of the family of believers, he or she still have a Divine purpose.

For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities– all things have been created through Him and for Him.  Colossians 1:16 (NASB)

We, all of us, are actually created by and for the Father… God the Father, creator of Heaven and Earth chooses us. But, He lets us decide whether or not to choose Him and in that deciding moment, we have an opportunity to know our identity, our destiny… or at least tap into the wellspring of knowledge which will lead us into that.

In the last month, I have let go of and said good bye to much in my life. The comforts of people and places and things that had been around me for over 10 years are now in my hindsight. Now, the people, family and friends, will still be integral in my life and not just a mere memory. That is of course depending on who they are to me… LOL! But the things and the places that were a comfort for so many years… well they are now behind me and I am looking forward.

God, in His infinite wisdom, has called me into to a new place. A place where I am not wrapped in a warm cozy blanket, but rather vulnerable to all. This is the place where my Father can come in and give me what I need. When I am vulnerable, I am often weak, so the Lord strengthens me. Not only that, He fills me so I am like Him… I am walking in love and peace. Now I can be who He wants me to be and change lives for the Kingdom!

As I look forward, part of me is scared to death.. yes, I am afraid. Everything is so new and different and wonderful and exciting, but scary too. So, this new place I am in is also exciting and thrilling and I cannot wait for what the Lord is going to do. The key is, I have to be willing… FULLY willing to let the Father do His thing in me.

Guess what?

I am ready… so ready.

I am working on myself. I am conquering fears. I am putting stuff behind me. I am becoming whole for the first time in my life. Actually, the Father and I are working on all of this together. God is healing me and preparing me for my next assignment. My spirit is so excited by this like never before! I am ready to fully submit to the Father and let Him use me like never before. I will step into my destiny and who He made me to be… FINALLY!

My home will be defined and I will live in it the way I was meant to by God. The time is now, this season is the season of change but also of calling. It is time for me to step into my promised land. Jesus has been waiting by my side… and now I am ready, as the Father knew. Exactly the time and the place.

Say Yes…

peaceful-leaf-500x

God moves us. He moves us in ways that are good for us. Sometimes, we fight that, at least initially. Once we let Him do His thing, our Father, reveals to us all the awesomeness of living for Him.

I have fought the Lord for many years. Not in a way where I have gone against Him, or backslide completely. I have fought God in different ways.

As the Lord has drawn me close and increased my knowledge of Him, He has also drawn me into areas that were outside my comfort zone. I didn’t realize it until now. I was so inside my life and who I thought I was supposed to be and what I was supposed to do for the Lord, that I was missing His call on my life.

Sometimes in the midst of something huge from the Lord, we miss His call, because we have to be truly listening to His heart and not our own.

My heart was telling me I was doing His work while His heart was wanting me to do more… not more work, but give more of me…

That was something that I didn’t come to the realization of until very recently. As recently as today. Yes, this morning, the Lord revealed this exact challenge to me. I read a devotional which challenged me to go lower, dig deeper… seek the Lord more and surrender to Him completely. Then, the Father gave me the vision of Jesus washing feet… that’s where He wanted me.

The Father wants me to wash feet…

Well, I am ready.

In exactly one week, I will begin this journey of washing feet. I am letting the Lord do His thing with me…

I will be heading to California, to live by myself with no husband ( I will see my husband about every other month), no furry babies ( I had to find new homes for my two beautiful female cats), my daughter will be 3 hours away instead of 3 minutes (I will see her once or twice a month instead of 4 or 5 times a week) and I be building a new life in a brand new place forging new relationships all while going to ministry school.

WOW… so God and not me. Completely out of my comfort zone all the way around!

But that’s how I know it is completely and totally of the Lord and his purpose for me.

So, now, I have said yes to God. And I am anxiously waiting for what’s next. I already know it’s going to be amazing… I am believing because God has said so, and God doesn’t lie

The Flower Blooming

image

My love for you is something I cannot explain

It continues like a flower in the rain

I used to be a flower with no blooms, only leaves

You have given the nurturing and loving a flower needs

Now I have not only one bloom to open

But so many, I am overflowing!

I continue to grow through you and a love like never before

Knowing that I am beautiful and should hide no more

I will continue to bloom and show the world

Because I have been found and I am adored.

You Saved Me…

The moment you met me

What did you see?

Something in my eye…

A sparkle of light

Something inside me wanting to be free

And take flight

A happiness, a joy, a heart filled to the brim

Ready to share and give and love the right man

You opened me up inside

And told me not to hide

To hold onto you tight

And not run, but fight

You stood by me through the really tough moments

And never turned away though you were truly spent

And so I have my smile

And that person that was inside, all the while

You are the one who helped me find her…

And now she can love you like you deserve.

Life…???

Who are we really? Have you ever thought about it? I mean really thought about it? Where did we come from? Why are we here? What are we supposed to do? Is there a GOD???

Deep questions for sure and ones that many of us have thought about, not once or twice, but often even.

Did any of you come up with an answer? Or answers? I am sure many of you have your own ideas and answers to theses questions. I, too, have my own ideas… My answers.

First off, the most important question’s answer… yes I do believe there is a God and only one God, the creator of all. Within that there is Jesus the son and the Holy Spirit.

For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him.   Colossians 1:16(NKJV)

Now, from there we can build on the other questions and their answers. Since God created all, that means He created us, all of us.

So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.
Genesis 1:27(NKJV)

Finally, the last questions about who we are and why we are here on this earth. We are God’s children, every one of us. He created us and He is our Father.

The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God,                                                                                                   Romans 8:16(NASB)

As we accept Jesus into our hearts and are filled with the Spirit of the Father, we are His child. Once that happens, we step into our destiny as heirs to the inheritance of the Lord. Sons and daughters of the King is who we are, our true identity.

But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;
2 Peter 2:9(NASB)

A son or a daughter of the King are called to love God and love others. By doing this, we are imitating Christ and showing the world who God is and what love is! This is our reason for being here and our destiny in life.

We, though, are going to love—love and be loved. First we were loved, now we love. He loved us first.  1 John 4:19(MSG)

Ultimately, these seemingly hard questions are actually fairly simply to answer. God and His love is truly the answer to it all. Look to the Lord in all your life questions and trust Him to show you the answer that best suits you, His son or daughter, whom He truly loves!

Are You Following Your Calling…?

Are-You-Following-Your-Calling

How do you know exactly what you are supposed to do in life? You have certain interests, certain skills, certain experiences… those things mold and shape you into the person you think you should be…

THE PERSON YOU THINK YOU SHOULD BE…

IS THIS REALLY WHO YOU ARE AND WHO YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO BE???

Ultimately, only GOD knows the answer to the question… are you following your calling? GOD created you and me and well, HE knows your ultimate destiny.

BUT…

How do you know what HE has designed you for? How do you know what you are truly supposed to do with your life???

I think, through prayer and a relationship with GOD the Father who created you and me… we learn what HE wants us to do.

We are equipped, through experiences in our lives, with the tools to do what we were designed to do. The coolest thing is that as we go though our lives, that calling changes. GOD equips us in new and challenging ways. Ways, where we often find ourselves in a place we have NEVER been. A place where only THE LORD could have led us!

Are you ready to be in whatever place GOD is putting you? Are you ready to do whatever HE asks? Would you be an Ester, an Amos, a Moses, a Noah, a David, a Mary, a Paul??? be a willing vessel… and then watch HIM use you in AMAZING ways for the GLORY of the KINGDOM of GOD!!!

Dream a BIG Dream…

Dreams are meant to be dreamed, dreams are meant to be lived. Make sure you don’t ever ignore your dreams.

What is a dream???

encoresizelayoutsforwebsite-dreamdefinition-8

A dream is something you want to do… something your heart desires. If you let go of your dream without trying to make it happen, are you really living your life?

Where do the desires of your heart come from? How does the dream given to you become a desire or vise versa?

dreams-are-illustrations-from-the-bookyour-soul-is-writing-about-you-dreaming-quote

A desire of the heart is also a calling from the GOD. The creator of all, gives us gifts, things we do well and also desires… things He wants us to do with our gifts.

dreams-300x225

I believe that as we follow the Lord and become close to Him in our lives, He will take care of us in many ways. One of those ways is through dreams. The dreams He gives us help define our path and our calling. In fact, I think He even dreams about us and for us… imagine that… God the Father, the Creator of all things, dreams of us…

Dreams determine our destiny, if we choose to follow them. And if we believe that God creates and gives us our dreams, why not let Him do the impossible!

Why not believe in your dreams and expect things, amazing things, to come out of those dreams. Your dreams might be the story of what you life is supposed to be… your adventure.
