Happiness is a state of mind. Sadness is the same. These two emotions, like all the emotions we feel as humans, are felt in the heart but can be controlled in the mind.
Events in life can affect our emotions. These include both happy events and sad events. Sometimes those memories are the easiest to control. Once the memory fades we no longer feel sad or angry or depressed even. Sometimes that is a true blessing, so we can move on with our lives.
Our mind and our heart often collide when feelings threaten to take us over. Our heart feels whatever the emotion is and the mind, well, the mind often battles the heart to protect both from possible vulnerability. Vulnerability can open the heart up to pain and sadness. Conversely, closing that off can also prevent true intimacy within a relationship and ultimately, true feeling.
Control the mind and what it thinks and control the feelings of the heart… truth?
Thoughts filter through our minds. They float around like leaves blowing in the breeze. The key is to catch the negative thoughts, the one that will cause sadness, and destroy them. Those thoughts cannot be allowed to float around free since they can threaten the heart’s happiness. The positive thoughts should be capitalized on and expounded upon if possible, that way happiness will flow through the body into the heart.
Happiness flowing through the body is like food to the soul. A happy mind and heart is good for the body. It is healthy on so many levels…
A joyful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit dries up the bone. Proverbs 17:22 (NASB)
We can choose to be happy and think positive thoughts. Why not be happy today… after all it’s better for the body… heart and mind.
You open your eyes and another day begins…
you sit up and look around
What will today bring???
You really don’t know…
GOD says we have a choice.
We can choose the path of
We can choose the path of
Good or Bad.
Who will you choose to follow today?
The one who lies to you so you will do what he wants you to do?
The ONE who gives you a choice because HE loves you?
I have decided to write a weekly post which I will post every Friday…
Weekly Random & Not So Random
It has come to my attention, that we are consumed with thoughts throughout the day. Actually, that is not a new revelation, it has been obvious to me for quite some time now. But it is important for me to now point out that thoughts are… well… everywhere!!!
You could almost say we are BOMBARDED with them!!! Thoughts swirl around constantly… Inside, outside, and all around us in a constant and never-ending force that almost controls us! How do we work through all of that? How can we come to a place where we clear our mind out of all of these flurries of thoughts? I find that writing helps me sort through all of this. In my writing I am able to pull out the ones I need and trash everything else.
Each week in this post I will either share something profound and meaningful or dump some of my trash. Which might be a good thing for someone, because remember…
Another mans trash is someone’s TREASURE!!!
So depending on your likes and dislikes, my weekly posts will be treasure or trash to you. All I know is it will be an awesome way for me to unload some of these thoughts… Random and not so random, swirling around!!! Hope you enjoy!!!
You can’t reach for anything new if you are still holding onto yesterday’s junk. -Louise Smith
As I sit here today in my living room, looking out the window, I am contemplating life. Life and what is means to me, what it means to people around me. It is what we are in every moment of every day… life.
Deep huh? Yeah, that’s what I thought when it first came to my mind. I really was, in a moment, overwhelmed and almost baffled at how to answer my own question.
So how do I answer the question???
Life is many things. Life is complicated, life is simple. Life is happy, life is sad. Life is trials and hard times. Life is dreams coming true and falling in love.
Life is how you look at things. Are you a “glass half empty” or “glass half full” person. Are you hopeful or cynical? Your life is all your choices. So, how you look at things in life will ultimately determine your happiness in life.
Again I am overwhelmed and baffled. Life is a combination of choices and emotions and experiences. All of these will lead us to look back with a sigh of contentment or with a sigh of regret.
Lately my thoughts and prayers and time with God have truly impressed upon me the importance of each moment. Life has many moments and how you choose to live in those moments will determine how you lived. It won’t matter whether you had tons of friends, but rather friends who you cared deeply for. It won’t matter whether you were rich with money and possessions, but rather that you were rich in love and generosity. It won’t matter whether you had the best clothes, hair, or body, but rather that you were a beautiful person with a heart of compassion.
So when you look back on your life, make sure you left your mark on people’s hearts by loving them the way JESUS loves us. Make sure everyone you meet knows they are loved. To me that is was LIFE is all about.
