Psalm 43:3

God’s Word is a guidebook to how we should live our lives. It’s truth from God and it’s what I believe. Moreover, it is how I live my life, by seeking God through prayer and reading and meditating on His Word.

I love to dig into the scriptures, looking for nuggets of wisdom. The Father speaks to us as we read about Him.

I have found that writing down the verses that hit my heart help me understand God more. These verses are also ones that often become my favorites that I memorize and remind myself of in times of need and share with others for encouragement.

This week I found a verse in the book of Psalms that really stood out to me…

OH send out YOUR light and YOUR truth! Let them lead me; Let them bring me to YOUR holy hill and to YOUR tabernacle.  Psalm 43:3 (NKJV)

I also really liked the way The Message Bible puts this verse…

Give me YOUR lantern and compass, give me a map, so I can find my way to YOUR sacred mountain, to the place of YOUR presence.  Psalm 43:3 (MSG)

In looking at this verse, we find out much. The first sentence includes light and lantern. Specifically the light or lantern of God. God lights our way with His light, the light of His Son, JESUS. When we seek God and His wisdom, He shows us the path to take and He even lights it for us, by making it clear which way we should go.

Your word is a light to my feet and a lamp to my path.   Psalm 119:105 (NASB)

This light also represents keeping us out of the dark with His light. As we step out of the darkness to follow the light of Jesus, we become transparent before the world. We are no longer hidden, but out in the open for all to see.

The second part of this verse talks about truth and a compass as well as a map. As we seek the Truth, we find the way. The Truth represents God’s Word. His Word, guides us on the path we should take. How cool, that the light and the truth are both elements that represent God. God is the light and the truth! In this light and truth, our path is made clear.

The final part of this verse takes us to the place of God… His holy hill, the place of His presence. So as we seek Him, we ultimately come into the place of His presence. What a comforting thought and such an amazing truth!

God is so good to us. He shows us how to follow Him and be with Him. Just look into His Word and come to know the heart of the Father!

Lead Me There…

I look into my eyes

there I see all the lies

My life for so long

was nothing but wrong

I was not being me

but who I thought I should be

I could not see through

until the day I found you

The clouds began to part

and slowly I saw into my heart

Who I had become

and how to overcome

You held me

as I began to see

I no longer had to hide

from the person inside

I could be happy and secure

and finally feel something pure

Now I understand

and I have a new plan

I have much to give

and a life to really live

I will live my life in a way

to give me joy every day

And I will never look back again

or wonder what would have been

Because I have found my way through

to a love I will never lose.

Right or Wrong…?

right or wrong

How do you know what is right and wrong? How do we really know? Well, we have that inner voice, that feeling inside us, that helps us know. You know what I am talking about. When you do something that isn’t right, or react in a way that isn’t kind and loving, you know, you feel it in your gut. Yes? You know exactly what I am thinking about right? The truth is, the feeling you get is the presence of the Holy Spirit inside of you guiding you in the way of righteousness…

But when He, the Spirit of truth, shall come, He will guide you into the truth. For He will not speak from Himself, but whatever He may hear, He will speak. And He will declare to you the things coming. John 16:13 (NASB)

So, let’s sort this out. When we have the Holy Spirit in us, He guides us in the ways that are right, doing good instead of bad. Well, in order to have the Holy Sprirt inside of us, we must have accepted Jesus.  If you haven’t done that, you might not know how or even understand it. Well to begin with, God the Father sent His son, Jesus,  to the earth so that we could be forgiven of our sins, all of them… Even the ones we would commit!

For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him might not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16 (NASB)

Why did the Father do that? Because of His amazing love for us…all of us. The Father provided grace and forgiveness for His people and a chance at a relationship with Him, not only now on earth but also eternally in Heaven.

For he has rescued us from the kingdom of darkness and transferred us into the Kingdom of his dear Son, who purchased our freedom and forgave our sins. Colossians 1:13-14 (NLT)

The key is that we have to choose to accept this awesome gift the Father has made available to us to be able to receive this hope and promise of a life with Him, forever. I love how the Message Bible explains this gift of forgiveness and grace…

But in our time something new has been added. What Moses and the prophets witnessed to all those years has happened. The God-setting-things-right that we read about has become Jesus-setting-things-right for us. And not only for us, but for everyone who believes in him. For there is no difference between us and them in this. Since we’ve compiled this long and sorry record as sinners (both us and them) and proved that we are utterly incapable of living the glorious lives God wills for us, God did it for us. Out of sheer generosity he put us in right standing with himself. A pure gift. He got us out of the mess we’re in and restored us to where he always wanted us to be. And he did it by means of Jesus Christ. Romans 3:21-24 (MSG)

It is our choice, though it is inately inside of us. Because the Father created us, we will ultimately desire Him, even if we don’t fully understand that. Thus, our also inate desire to do good over evil. People might call it being moral, which is true. Morality consists of choosing right over wrong. But it’s much more than that… The Father created us to be righteous, though satan and the world distracts us with sin. We have to choose to do right and to follow Jesus. In that, God gives us strength and even provides a way out.

No test or temptation that comes your way is beyond the course of what others have had to face. All you need to remember is that God will never let you down; he’ll never let you be pushed past your limit; he’ll always be there to help you come through it.  1 Corinthians 10:13 (MSG)

Ultimately, though, each person has to choose to have a relationship with the Father through Jesus. It is the only way to the Father…

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.  John 14:6 (NASB)

To do this, one must confess their sins before God and ask for forgiveness. Once that is done, God the Father, who loves us so much, will cover you with new life in Christ Jesus.

This is the message we have heard from Him and announce to you, that God is Light, and in Him there is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth; but if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin. If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar and His word is not in us. 1 John 1:5-10 (NASB)

As we receive Jesus, we also receive the Holy Sprit who then will help guide us in the way of righteousness. All we have to do is listen for what to do. We will know in our spirit the way to go. As we grow closer to God the Father, the more we will feel the prompting of the Holy Spirit in the right ways to go. I wouldn’t want it any other way. This world and this life is too hard. Why try to go it alone, we have help… Utilize it.
