Time of Rest…

I have been away and haven’t even written anything new in a few weeks. Sometimes as writers, we go through times like this in our lives. Things happen and crowd our day making it almost impossible to fit anything else into it. Writing does not seem to take precedence over the daily activities. Other times, it is because of a physical ailment which prevents the cognitive and motor skills as well as the desire from pursuing much of anything. I recently had surgery, my first ever, and well, my brain has been in a bit of a fog for the past week or so. Not the most conducive place to be in for writing.

In this absence, I have felt many different thoughts floating through, taking root in my psyche. It seems as though my mind is always processing the events in my life and relating them to emotions in my heart. As these two come together, they form a union that gives birth to all my writing. Even in the fog of coming out of surgery and pain meds and the pure exhaustion at doing seemingly basic things, the writing still floated through me. Unfortunately, trying to put anything sensible together, would have been a insurmountable feat!

All that being said… I have a slew of “stuff” to get out. It will be forthcoming as quickly as my fingers can type it out! I hope it is inspiring, encouraging and a blessing to each of you that take time to read any of it! Thank you for reading… and remember, life gives us a choice each day, each hour, each moment to live and LOVE! Choose love my friends… and be blessed, because you are loved too!!!

3 Day Quote Challenge:Day 3… Your Peace

Writing can be something you do without even thinking sometimes. Others times, you have the desire to write something, but just cannot seem to get anything going.

My last blog was Friday… 4 whole days ago! I have been writing something everyday and on some days twice even! It’s amazing how writing can become a habit just like anything else and once you stop even just for a few days, it’s hard to start up again!

I even have one more day of the 3-Day Quote Challenge that erhynireh challenged me to…

So, I am killing two birds with one stone, so-to-speak. Here’s my third and final day of the quote challenge AND my first blog after 4 days so I can get that ball rolling!!!

Great quote that effectively depicts the two schools of thought.

Mind verses Spirit.

Natural verses Supernatural.

Earth verses Heaven.

There is a choice here… which do you believe?

Are you waiting for it all to work out? Or do you believe that peace is all you need?

I know what I believe and I will share that shortly, but first I want to look at both sides.

As you follow your ego, and trust in yourself, you ultimately believe that everything you do and achieve is up to you. Only you can make things happen. And, if you work hard enough it will all work out.

I personally think that is a rough way to go. I do believe that hard work is important in life. But is it the only thing in life? And more importantly, is everything we do and everything that comes to us completely in our hands? Is our destiny, our fate determined by what we do and nothing else?

Here’s another angle to think about. What if you believe in a higher power to guide you through? Do you believe in GOD and His power? I do. In fact, I know that through Jesus Christ, I have the peace that I need. This peace gives me the ability to live life, the good and the bad. That peace is a form of strength.

We still make choices in life and sometimes the choices we make have consequences. But even the consequences are more bearable with the peace of God. As we trust in Him, He gives us what we need… PEACE.

Doesn’t that sound better? To have a GOD who loves you and wants to help you live a life of peace or to have only yourself to depend on…?

I believe that when I find peace, the peace only GOD can provide, everything in my life will fall into place as God wants it to be. I have that peace. Yes, I lose it, because I let things of the world take it away from me. When I hold onto JESUS and follow Him, His peace inside me makes everything more than bearable, and wonderful even!

So, I do believe that when I find peace, everything falls into place! It is available to everyone. Chose that peace today and experience freedom in life and the love of the FATHER!!!

Now as my final challenge… I am asking the below three fellow bloggers to to the same with 3-Day Quote Challenge

It’s All in the Family

How many times have you thought about someone and thought, man if they weren’t family, I would never speak to them again?

Yes, we get that mad sometimes.

Well, not us, no never… all the people not reading this. Ha! I bet you have been on the receiving end of that thought. Families can be tough.

But we are family, so we do love and stick together regardless of what happens.

Or at least we should. This is the picture of the Greek word for love, storge. Storge is the kind of love we feel towards our parents, our children, our siblings and anyone else who is a family member. In the Greek, storge is defined as parental affection or instinctual affection by humans and animals for their young. (wordnik.com) It is the kind of love that comes naturally, paternally even.

This love is not found in the New Testament. Instead there are two negative uses and a compound use of the word. In both Romans 1:31 and 2 Timothy 3:3, the word astorgos is used, meaning no love or without love. (gotquestions.org/whatisstorgelove?) In Romans 12:10 it is used in combination with phileo as philostorgos. In this instance the translation is to be devoted and to cherish one’s kindred.

This is a picture of what God’s family should look like, where we are all considered brothers and sisters through Jesus and thus we should love each other as such.

In this love level, there is a focus on time.

As we go through life with our families, we should be spending time with them. God has chosen each person in our families to be who they are, the sibling, the parent, the aunt or uncle, the grandparent. Each of these roles is integral in the functioning of the family.

This could be compared to the picture of the body of Christ. Each of us in the body have a specific anointing which if we do not accept it, then part of the body will not function properly.

The same is true of the family. Each person has their role and are important to the family unit. When there are hurt feelings or discord within the family, there are often trials and even unforgiveness. You all know what I am talking about, I am sure. Maybe some of you have even experienced it where one or more members disagree about something and stop talking while holding onto bitterness because they cannot forgive the other person.

That is not a picture of love on any level.

We should always be forgiving of anyone for any wrong. As we understand the difference between acceptance and forgiveness, we can forgive without making the person think what they did was right. Moreover, as we understand God’s love, and His forgiveness of our sins, all of them, we come to understand what that looks like for us as we are a reflection of Him.

At the end of the day, a loving family should find everything forgivable.”                        Mark V. Olsen

Another picture of love is now on the horizon.

As I think about family and what that means to me, I think not only of my blood family, but also of my spiritual family. So often, family is those who are related to us in some way. But, guess what? Our spiritual family is related to us through blood too… through the blood of Jesus!!! And even though the Bible does not refer to family much, as the earthly family, the family of God is spoken of many times. One of the sections that I think most personifies the family of God is the following verse from Ephesians:

So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints, and are of God’s household, 20 having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus Himself being the corner stone, 21 in whom the whole building, being fitted together, is growing into a holy temple in the Lord, 22 in whom you also are being built together into a dwelling of God in the Spirit.   (Ephesians 2:19-22)

Love is family.

Family is love.

Whatever your family looks like, make sure you appreciate them, spend time with them, and above all… love them!!!

I CAN Forgive

How can I FORGIVE?

You took all I had to give…

I feel so very empty

Hurt is all that is inside of me

Anger is now consuming

Swirling around and growing…

How can I possibly let go?

So confused… I don’t even know…

But then in the darkness

Comes the ONE who loves me

JESUS takes away the hurt, the anger

HE replaces it with something better

Love, His love,

The love that loves anyway

Forever and Always

Even when it hurts

Even in anger

Love eases, comforts, heals

Love strengthens, reveals

In that love we see how He loves us and once again we live

Once more, surrounded by the love of the Father

I can forgive…

love-mother theresa

Lean on ME…

Nothing can drag you down completely

Your strength is inside… don’t you see?

It may feel like it will never end

Things come at you from every direction.

But your strength will get you through

And don’t forget… I’ll be there too.

Lean on ME for support and anything else you may need

You will make it through the storm to find the sun indeed.

The clouds and darkness will be lifted away

You will feel light and free on another day.

That day will come soon, you will see

Just take MY hand and hold onto ME.

I will be with you by your side

Until you can let go like the ocean’s tide.

So trust in ME and and peace will surely come,

It is time for the abundant life I promise everyone.

Why Forgive?

Forgiveness and connection. I experienced, even as of late, that in order to have a stronger, deeper and more intimate connection with people, you MUST have forgiveness. Moreover, that forgiveness might even need to be paired with some grace.

We all do things in our lives that are not the greatest… none of us are perfect. The only one who can claim that is Jesus Christ!

It was the precious blood of Christ, the sinless, spotless Lamb of God. 1 Peter 1:19 (NLT)

As we do those not so great things and make bad choices, well, we all hurt others in those moments, while ultimately hurting ourselves in the process. We then proceed to build walls and sometimes break connections with people too, all in an effort to protect ourselves.

In order to truly love in an intimate relationship, you cannot have walls. You also must have a connection in which you are continually connecting more and more with each other, drawing closer and closer together. Why in our effort to protect ourselves, do we hurt ourselves more? We have all been hurt. Sometimes the answer is simply that we are afraid of being hurt again. There is fear… God wants to take that fear away and does in the perfection of His love.

God is love. When we take up permanent residence in a life of love, we live in God and God lives in us. This way, love has the run of the house, becomes at home and mature in us, so that we’re free of worry on Judgment Day—our standing in the world is identical with Christ’s. There is no room in love for fear. Well-formed love banishes fear. Since fear is crippling, a fearful life—fear of death, fear of judgment—is one not yet fully formed in love.   1 John 4:17-18 (MSG)

Stop for a minute and search your heart. Search your heart with the guidance of the Holy Spirit and look at your relationships. Is there fear? Is there unforgiveness? Are you connected intimately? Or, are there walls everywhere you turn? Even walls that are short are obstacles preventing the relationship from being all it can be. In a healthy, connected, intimate relationship there should be no walls and no fear… only LOVE.

Now is the time for you to trust God and His love. Forgive and move forward with each person in your life whether they are close to you or just an acquaintance. Why not take a chance on God’s promise and share the forgiveness and grace He shared. Break down all those walls that have been built up around you. If you do it with a pure heart and with the help of the Holy Spirit, you will see and feel a difference. the weight you have been carrying around will be lifted and your heart will be filled with joy. I have done it, even though I honestly didn’t believe it could make such a difference, Jesus knew I was carrying around that bag of stuff that I was supposed to give over to Him.

The coolest thing about all of this is that once I forgave others and myself I was able to begin knocking down the walls I had built. More importantly, God was able to begin changing me on the inside. Once I was cleaned out, He could really move in and take over! Now the Father is working inside me like never before. Are you ready? Why not let go of it all now… it is time for true FREEDOM!!!

As the Rain Falls

What a dark and dreary day

As I sit here with nothing to say

The clouds move overhead

Willing me to stay in bed

The raindrops fall on the roof just like a lullaby

The clock tick tocks as the minutes pass by

A chill has fallen in the air

I bundle up with a blanket in my chair

I light a fire to warm my body

And I snuggle with you as you sit beside me

As the day goes on and on

We wait for the sun

Though it never even peeks through,

Maybe it is in bed too…

The Path

 A kiss in the wind

A wave goodbye

Words of love

A smile, a grin

Look up in the sky

Remember it all

The happy flutters

The clouds rolling by

Sweet songs

Beautiful flowers

Dreary dark days

Full of showers

Turn left, turn right

Look up, look down

Each day, each moment

Never lose sight

Behind the clouds

The sun will always peek through

Sadness and doubt

Eventually come with

Peace and joy too…

Cat or Dog, that is the question

Cat. What does that word mean to you? Well if you don’t like cats, I know the drill, oh they are evil, they don’t like anyone, they have a mind of their own… and on and on…

Now let’s hang out in the other camp for a while, the camp that adores those sweet furry animals. Yes, you guessed it, I am one of the adorers. I have had cats my entire life. and not only that, I have two beautiful girls now. My beauties have definite personalities and “quirks”, but they are my babies and I love them!

The key to loving cats is understanding them. And, the key to understanding them is loving them. HA! Figure that one out my friends. I have been trying to for all of my life. But once you love a cat, a furry feline, you will always love them. I am sure many of you will disagree and that ok… that’s why there are also dogs in the world!

The thing about pets, specifically cats and dogs, is that these guys love unconditionally. How many of us can say we have unconditional love, except from God the Father. Our pets give us that love. I can’t even count on my hand anymore how many times one of my furry babies was there for me when I was crying or felt alone. They are amazing comforts. In fact even right now, as my husband is gone for another week, I am not alone, first because I know my God is with me. But also because both my beautiful baby girls, Jazzie and Mica,  are here too… and that is truly amazing!!!

“Until one has loved an animal, a part of one’s soul remains unawakened.” – Anatole France

What is forever…???

loveWe talk about things that last in life… A battery, a friendship, a marriage. How do we know if something is forever? Forever, well, it’s a choice. Everything in life is a choice and as God gives us free will we each choose for ourselves. Will you choose to stay married, even in the times that are challenging and difficult? Often the hardest choices produce the greatest joys in our lives.

As we push through and stay focused on the promises of God, that He will provide and He will take care of all of our needs, we are blessed beyond what we could have imagined. Life as we know it, the everyday hum drum becomes exciting, something we look forward to even… Imagine that!

How about as we start our next day, we choose to do something different. What if we all decided to smile at every person we came in contact with during the day? How would that change not only our life, but every life we touched during the day? Do you think it would be better for everyone including us? I’d say a resounding YES! So why not choose to live life in a way that spreads joy and love…? That includes sticking to the marriage that might be tough. Or the friendship that has struggles. Even the family member that you haven’t talked to in years… How can you bring love into that relationship? God has already shown you… Now it’s your turn to show others. Share the love HE has shared with you. There is more than enough to go around!!!
